2016 Year In Review, because I should attempt to keep that going!

1. What did you do in 2016 that you'd never done before?
Sucked it up and went to therapy?  Oh, and co-piloted a robot.   I keep forgetting that was this last year because so much went down in the second half.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
My usual resolution is "Suck less, do more."  I have . . .  no idea how I did for that, honestly.   I think one of my primary goals for 2017 is going to be "Get thee meds" because better living through modern science seems like it's worth a shot.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not yet--middle sibling is due to pop any day now!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Thankfully, no.

5. What countries did you visit?
The US.  Specifically, I went out to site in Indiana for four or so days in the spring, then I had some repeat business going down to North Carolina in the fall.  Oh boy oh boy was that an experience.

6. What would you like to have in 2017 that you lacked in 2016?
The Will To Can.  I had something here last year about wanting to travel on an actual vacation, and that may or may not actually come to fruition in 2017 if I can get the funds and plans together.

7. What dates from 2016 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I am very bad at actual dates, but experiences . . .  attempting to go to a shrink.  The site visits with the almost mutiny.  The election.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting my sorry dysfunctional ass into therapy. >_<

9. What was your biggest failure?
I didn't do nearly half the things I should have done.   (Same as last year! *ding ding ding*) I'm disappointed in what I've accomplished.  I haven't come off well at work, and I've not written nearly as much as I should have.  Bailing on the KBB hurt.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Mental illness, same as usual; teeth, same pain new location.  Oi.  At least it's predictable.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Uh.  Not really much exciting, the really sad thing is my brain went first to "Parking pass, so I didn't have to walk so far to my car in the morning."

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
I think Leo wins this one!

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
A large portion of America, particularly the government and those who voted Republican.

14. Where did most of your money go?
General living expenses, nothing exciting.  I did splurge on a wardrobe update in November, because I determined my overtime funds had to go to something pleasant.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Probably getting sucked into the Kylux fandom for a good six-seven months.  I actually wrote fic for awhile!

16. What song will always remind you of 2016?
I think my theme song for the year was Nouela - "Fight."

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Same song new verse.
ii. thinner or fatter? About the same.
iii. richer or poorer? Bit richer, and just finished paying off the car loan!

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Writing and cooking.  I definitely let the cooking slide while stressing out and I'm not really back into the groove yet.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Stressing out/being a basket case.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
With my family-- really quiet this year since it was just me and my parents, and middle sib and husband popping over for just Christmas afternoon.

21. What Journal users did you meet for the first time?
Zero.

22. Did you fall in love in 2016?
Nein.

23. How many one-night stands?
Nada.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
*squints* I guess Yuri on Ice?

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Aside from the fact I would 100% punch Trump somewhere squishy if given the free shot, no.

26. What was the best book you read?
I can't even remember what actual books I've read in 2016!  Let's go ahead and say one of the Rivers of London books so I have that down on record.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Maybe . . .  Oh Wonder?  Sawano Hiroyuki?

28. What did you want and get?
A paid professional to listen to my neuroses on a semi-regular basis.

29. What did you want and not get?
The capacity to function as a human being.  A decent government..

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I think the only movies I saw in theatres were Kubo and the Two Strings and Rogue One; both were good!

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Oh. Uh. I seriously do not remember.  *thinks* If I recall right, it involved working until 7 pm to meet an engineer and get him a thing he needed.  I was also in the depths of Fuck This Noise at work at the time.  I am past the landmark year, so it's pretty much just a downward slide into oblivion from here.

32.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A better capacity for handling stress, probably.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2016?
Same old same old, with a facelift of Banana Republic at the end.  If I could exist in boots, jeans, and sweaters constantly, I would.

34. What kept you sane?
*insert maniacal laughter* Who said anything about sane?!

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
I think we have to acknowledge I am forever going to pass on this one, but I have seen SO MUCH second-hand lust for Adam Driver and Domhnall Gleeson, holy shit.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The election, oh dear god.  Why this.

37. Who did you miss?
My family, absent friends.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Leo!  Leo has been the diamond in the rough that was 2016.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2016.
Never let the customer get away with telling you what they want without putting a price tag on it.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
Don't know what good is
Don't know what great means
But til' we find it,
We'll do better, we'll do better now
