windlion: (me scribble)

Thanks muchly for the concern about the laptop.  >_<  It's still not fixed, but reportedly, reinstalling Windows shouldn't affect my personal files. . . that is, if it isn't a memory problem, which it may be.  Still, I'll try and get people to tinker with it before/during the London escape.
After three days of mayhem, lines, and masquerades, I have returned!  . . . Which means I should probably be doing a con-report about now.
Short form?
Budget: $200
Money spent: $200 (almost exactly, as far as I can tell.  Hoo, did I push it.)
Swords drooled excessively over: 1 (Pretty, pretty Spanish sabre replete with carved ivory handle, tassel,  leather scabbard with brass decorations, and matching brass chain with belt clip.)
Swords bought: 0  (I exercised admirable constraint.  The thing was $250 on its own >_<)
Costumes brought: 3
Costumes worn: 2
People who recognized Kano (That we know of): 1
People who recognized Dr. Di Lucien (that we know of.  While I was wearing a nametag.): 0 -_-;
People in Haibane costume:  at least twenty.
Hours spent making the halos for the haibane costume: about 2-3
Hours spent making the wings for the haibane costume: 12+
Hours spent listening to my fellow cosplayer bitch about how she didn't like wearing either: 6+
People who wanted a picture of the haibane costume: 4.   (And only one commented that we had wing covers.  Bless her.)
Number of times I smacked Jen:  2 (Singing "Everyone's a little bit racist" with my parents in the car while they were stressing out because we were lost and out way past our bedtime?  Yeah, not really tactful.)
Estimated number of blocks long the L'arc en Ciel concert line was:  . . . 8, I think.  Three people deep, too!
Best costume:  The catbus from Totoro.  Whoever and however many people they had in there, they rule.
Worst (err. Memorable in a bad way) costume:  The fourty-something woman in the midriff-baring, tight leather Tsume costume with ears and tail.   Yes, you showed effort, but you also showed things I didn't want to be seeing.
Number of times I wanted to glomp people:  . . . whenever I saw a good Mustang, really.  (Unfortunately the Eds weren't as good, and didn't quite inspire the same reaction.)
Number of times I was glomped:  1 (I shall explain in the long version.  At least it was a cute gei catboy instead of one of the sign-toting "Lonely fanboy" fellows.)
Number of doujinshi I bought at the yaoi table: 3
Number of dj that was actually yaoi?: 0  (I think I have the opposite of your problem, Flidge.  You get all the tentacle, I get all the het.  . . . . At least it's pretty het.)
Hours spent in the car getting back: 6+.  Ergh.   Lots of tolls.  Lots and lots of tolls. Curse you, New Jersey!
And now, I fall over!  I'll see about getting the long version up tomorrow, if anyone's still interested.
(Hurrah, work tomorrow, 9:30-6:00, probably out in the steaming hot parking lot tent trying to hawk rugs.  Joyous!)

You're all going to kill me. No, no pictures. >_<
I actually only saw the catbus during the masquerade, wherein it was on a stage several hundred feet away, but my friend reportedly saw it waltzing through the con, wherein it had a "driver" instructing everyone inside when to turn, and everyone outside to part the seas of people for them.
I didn't really get any cosplay pics, mostly because I'm an incredible wuss when it comes to approaching strangers. Also, I never take pictures of people. Even friends. *shrug* Not a habit of mine, especially since I never had a camera of my own that wasn't a cheap disposable.
I think we took, say, one picture of me, in costume with wings, and that was it. I'm willing to dress up in costume again for a photoshoot if anyone so desires, though. Jen might be a different story, but she's currently inaccessible over in Cleveland with her boy.
. . . Sorry?
